This Privacy Policy explains how QuickTranslate ("Extension", "we", "us") handles user information. By using the Extension, you consent to the practices described in this policy. QuickTranslate is operated by SlimPDF.

2. Data Collection and Usage

2.1 Translation Content

When you select text for translation, that text is transmitted to third-party providers (such as MyMemory) solely to perform the translation. This data is not stored on our servers and is discarded after the translation is delivered.

2.2 Local Browser Storage

The following data is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

• Settings: Your theme, language, and feature preferences.
• Vocabulary Vault: Saved words, flashcards, and SRS progress.
• Translation History: A record of your recent translations (can be cleared at any time).
• Highlighter Data: Your text highlights on specific web pages.
• API Keys: OpenAI or DeepL keys you provide are stored locally and encrypted.

3. Third-Party Services

We utilize trusted third-party services for specific functionalities. Data is shared with them only when you use the corresponding feature:

• Translation: MyMemory, DeepL (if key provided).
• AI Features: OpenAI (if key provided) for summarization.
• OCR: OCR.space for recognizing text in images and PDFs.
• Educational Content: Free Dictionary API for word definitions and Unsplash for flashcard images.

4. Licensing and Payments

4.1 Firebase (License Management)

To verify your Pro subscription, your email address and license key are stored in Google Firebase Firestore. This allows us to enforce device limits and manage your access.

4.2 Paddle (Payment Processing)

All financial transactions are handled by Paddle. We do not have access to, nor do we store, your credit card details or billing address. Paddle's privacy policy governs the security of your payment data.

5. Device Limit and Refunds

Each license key is limited to 2 (two) active devices at a time. Due to the digital nature of the software, refunds are only issued if the product is proven to be non-functional within 7 days of purchase.

6. Security and Data Protection

All communications with third-party APIs are conducted over secure HTTPS connections. We implement industry-standard practices to ensure the integrity of your locally stored data.

7. User Rights (GDPR/CCPA)

You have the right to access, export, or delete your data. Since your data is primarily stored locally, you can exercise these rights by using the "Clear Data" or "Export" features within the Extension settings.

8. Children's Privacy

QuickTranslate does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that such data has been collected, we will take steps to delete it immediately.
